Spokane County Busted Mugshots Explained
An arrest in Spokane County starts a custody file. It opens at the county jail or the Geiger Facility. The public roster shows a limited view of people currently in the system. It cannot confirm identity from a name alone. Nor is it a permanent archive of every arrest.
County Booking & Classification information spells out what intake involves. There is a search, a photograph, and fingerprinting. Staff also log personal details, charges, a bail figure, and a court date. The same guidance notes a pre-booking window of up to four hours before someone reaches the jail. Intake and classification take roughly four to six hours more. A person may not appear on the live roster right away. Timing explains most gaps.
Charges can shift after booking. An arrest charge may be amended, reduced, dismissed, diverted, or resolved by plea. The court file tracks what happens next.
Spokane County Booking Timing
The live roster is a snapshot. It is not a replay of every arrest. County guidance says some people are released on recognizance soon after booking. A person arrested while intoxicated can be held up to twelve hours or longer. The roster also lists Geiger EHM community custody as a separate status. Any of these can explain why someone is absent from Current Inmates even after an arrest.
Later movement changes things too. Release, transfer, or a status correction can alter what the roster shows. Write down the live timestamp and book number if they appear. For the next stage of a case, look to the court record.
Spokane County Booking Record Fields
The live Detention Services Inmate Roster has two parts. One is a public table. The other is a current detail panel. Think of the table as a current-custody register. It works well as a starting point for an inquiry, especially through the book number. It is not a source for court outcomes or an official photograph. The details shift as a person's status and case change.
| Visible field | What it shows and does not show |
|---|---|
| Inmate Name and Book Number | A current-register name and booking identifier. Confirm identity with agency or court identifiers. |
| Status and facility | Spokane County Jail, Geiger Facility, or a marked EHM status. EHM is community custody, not a jail bed. |
| Bondable and Total Bond | A roster snapshot. “CALL” directs a reader to contact the jail and does not decide release. |
| County ID, intake, and case/hold text | Detail-panel information about the custody event, not the final court result. |
| Photo and disposition | No photo field appeared in the public roster or detail panel. Use the Court Viewer for case progress. |
A book number and a court case number are two different things. Save both when you have them. The booking number identifies one custody event. The court file holds the arraignment, later hearings, pleas, judgments, and sentences that follow.

Public-records requests in Spokane County go through the Public Records Office and its GovQA intake system. The office sits at 824 N. Adams St., Spokane, WA 99260, and answers the phone at 509-477-1721. Ordinary hours run Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. A strong request names the person, any known booking number, the date range, the agency, and the exact record you want. That precision helps the custodian find the right file and apply the correct exemption rules.
The County's Jail Records guidance adds an important local limit. Specific inmate information is confidential under the jail rule, and the County requires a signed inmate waiver or a judge-signed court order, along with valid identification, in the situations it describes. You can ask whether a disclosable record exists. There is no guarantee a detailed custody file or booking photo will be released.
- Check the public roster first and record the book number and live timestamp if an entry is present.
- Choose the custodian: County for detention material, Sheriff for a Sheriff report or CAD printout, or the city agency that created a city police report.
- Describe the existing record narrowly and provide dates, identifiers, and contact information.
- Read the custodian’s response and any stated confidentiality or clarification request before assuming a record is available.
RCW 42.56.520 gives an agency five business days for its initial response. That response might deliver records, point to an already-public record, acknowledge the request with a time estimate, seek clarification, or deny it under a stated exemption. Five days is a deadline to respond, not a promise to produce. Inspection and record location are ordinarily free under Washington law. Copying charges follow the published policy, so check the County's current fee schedule when you file. The County jail-records page lays out the local request and confidentiality context.
This route exists for records that already exist, nothing more. It is not a photo gallery, and it does not override the confidentiality rules that protect jail files.
Spokane Busted Mugshots Law
Washington keeps its jail records on a split footing. The core statute, RCW 70.48.100, opens a limited jail register to public inspection. Most other records about a confined person stay confidential, except where the law says otherwise. Spokane County's text-only roster follows that split exactly. A photo gets taken at booking in most cases. Yet nothing in the statute or the public roster creates a route for the county to hand that photo to anyone who asks.
No statewide rule grants a blanket right to publish or demand a routine county booking photograph. Juvenile offender information is likewise absent from the Spokane County Court Viewer. Sealed or protected matters sit behind their own boundaries. A missing image is a privacy limit. It is not proof that nothing happened.
Fixing a record and clearing a record are different jobs. RCW 10.97.060 covers certain nonconviction criminal-history data, with time and eligibility strings attached. The state's vacating and sealing forms lay out the court-based procedures. Vacation is not the same as sealing. Neither path wipes away every agency page, news story, or independent publisher's copy.
For a page the County itself controls, ask that custodian for a correction or bring a qualifying court order. RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com run no-fee correction processes for documented qualifying cases. As unofficial secondary publishers, though, they cannot touch an official county or court record. Skip paid removal services. Once a source page has truly changed or come down, Google's Refresh Outdated Content guidance explains how to request a refresh of stale search results, not how to alter the source itself.
Find Spokane County Busted Mugshots
Search custody, not pictures. That is the official path in Spokane County. The live roster answers current adult detention questions. The Court Viewer picks up the case trail after that. Records requests come last, and they fit only when a record already exists and you reach the right custodian, with the local jail-record limits in view. Follow this sequence and the distinctions hold: just booked, still held, released, or sentenced to state prison.
- Open the live roster, note its date and last-updated time, and choose Current Inmates, Recent Bookings, or Recent Releases.
- Use the A–Z surname filter or All control, open the current detail panel, and preserve the book number and status.
- For an unsealed court case, use the Court Viewer’s defendant or case-number route and confirm important facts with the court of record.
- If city police created the report, use that agency’s city or County record route. If detention material is confidential, follow the County Jail Records instruction.
- Use DOC, BOP, or ICE only when the person’s custody system actually matches that federal or state locator.
No verified Sheriff app offers a booking-photo lookup here. The County's verified notification tool is Washington VINE, which sends registered phone, email, SMS, or TTY custody alerts. It is not a photo source. It is not a court docket, and it is no safety guarantee. Detention Services links to VINE and posts the state toll-free number, 1-877-846-3492.
Where Spokane County Mugshots Appear
Start with official channels. Each one answers a defined custody or record question. For current county detention, Spokane County's public roster is the best first stop, though it shows no booking photos. A later court file, a city report, or a state or federal locator answers a different question entirely. The commercial sources listed last carry no authority. Never lean on them to confirm identity, custody, charge status, or outcome.
| Channel | Custody or record state | Photo policy | Access |
|---|---|---|---|
| County Detention Services roster | Current County Jail, Geiger, or marked EHM status | No public image field observed | Live roster with custody controls |
| County Recent Bookings / Releases | Recent county intake or release view | No public image field observed | Controls inside the live roster |
| City or Sheriff records request | Existing originating-agency record | Subject to governing disclosure rules | Correct agency portal or office |
| Spokane County Court Viewer | Unsealed County Superior or District case activity | Not a photo source | Case or hearing reference search |
| Washington DOC locator | People currently incarcerated in DOC custody | No public profile-photo field observed | Name or DOC-number search |
| RecentlyBooked and Mugshots.com | Unofficial publisher collections | Not proof of official availability | Secondary discovery only, always verify |
Local newsrooms tell a different story than county custody does. The Spokesman-Review, KXLY, KREM, KHQ, Spokane Public Radio, and Cheney Free Press document local news activity. Their reporting can help you spot the originating agency or a case date. The Spokane arrest-news sources page maps that landscape. It also shows the route from a news story back to the official record.
Busted and Booked in Spokane County
The Spokane County Detention Services roster is a live, text-only register of current adult county custody. It spans Current Inmates, Recent Bookings, and Recent Releases. A–Z surname filters are there, plus an All button. Columns include Inmate Name, Book Number, Status, Bondable, and Total Bond. Click a current entry for more detail: County ID, the booking number, intake date and time, case number, case-added date, and coded charge or hold text.
| Roster feature | How to use it |
|---|---|
| Last-updated stamp | Read it before relying on a current-custody result. |
| Current Inmates | Use for the present Detention Services snapshot. |
| Recent Bookings and Recent Releases | Choose the state that matches the question, without assuming a stated day window. |
| A–Z surname filters | Limit the live list by last-name initial. The page is not a conventional free-text form. |
| Status detail | Separate jail and Geiger physical custody from Geiger EHM community custody. |
The County stamps the roster with a live timestamp rather than promising a fixed update interval. No numeric retention period applies to entries or releases, and no historical archive exists online. Someone can vanish from the list for many reasons: release, transfer, correction, or a simple status change. "Geiger Facility EHM" means electronic-home-monitoring community custody under RF or GPS supervision, not physical detention. "CALL" in the bondable column just tells you to phone the jail. It says nothing about whether release will happen. See the official Detention Services roster for the text-only current-custody interface and its separate recent-activity controls.
The missing image column is an interface choice, nothing more. It does not prove no booking photo exists at the agency. Nor does it make such a photo publicly releasable.
Recent Spokane County Busted Bookings
Spokane County keeps its recent-activity tools inside the main jail roster. Two buttons do the work. One is Recent Bookings, the other Recent Releases. There is no separate same-day or 24-hour page. No 48-hour, 72-hour, or weekly archive exists either. The public interface also stays quiet on how far back the Recent Bookings list reaches or how often it refreshes. That detail simply is not published.
Treat the tool as a live window, not a archive of "today's arrests." Open Recent Bookings and read the on-screen timestamp. What you get are text custody fields, not a photo gallery. Sheriff and police news releases fill in some gaps, but they stay episodic and never form a complete booking feed. When an event falls outside the roster's unstated window, or the portal is down, try a court case lookup, a report from the agency that made the arrest, or a narrow records request to the County.
Note: A recent booking can lead to release, transfer, electronic home monitoring, or a court change, so it is not a final case outcome.
Spokane County DOC and Federal Records
State and federal systems sit apart from the county jail. The Washington DOC Incarcerated Search finds people held in a state DOC facility. So it won't surface a typical Spokane County booking. Search by DOC number or by first and last name. Results can include the person's name, DOC number, age, facility, and a VINE link, though no offender photo appears in the public results. A DOC request follows the department's own records rules. It won't dodge the county jail statute either.
For federal custody, the BOP Inmate Locator tracks federal inmates from 1982 onward. It does not publish mugshots as a standard result. ICE runs its own tool, the Online Detainee Locator, for qualifying immigration custody. Neither one works as a Spokane booking feed or photo source. No evidence ties Spokane County to an ICE detention contract. Use each locator for its own custody system.
Spokane County Booking to Court
When a booking turns into a case, court records take over. The Spokane County Court Viewer is the online home for Superior and District court cases and hearing details. Searching a criminal Superior Court case by defendant name takes a last name plus a first initial. Treat what you find there as reference material. The court of record holds the official file for certified copies.
The Viewer has gaps. Juvenile offender, dependency, and Becca case information is excluded. Municipal court matters go through Spokane Municipal Court's Justice Web instead. Documents from before January 2005 never made it online there. For phone help, county guidance lists Spokane Municipal Court at 509-625-4400, District Court at 509-477-4770, and Superior Court at 509-477-5790. Don't ask the jail for court dates.
| State of the record | Best next source |
|---|---|
| Just booked or in present county custody | Live Detention Services roster and its book number. |
| Released, transferred, or EHM status | Recent Releases when still visible, then court or agency confirmation. |
| Sentenced to state prison | Washington DOC locator for present DOC custody. |
| Federal or immigration custody | BOP or ICE locator only when the relevant federal system applies. |
| Charge outcome | County Court Viewer followed by the court of record. |
Spokane County Busted Mugshots by City
Spokane, Spokane Valley, and Cheney each run their own records routes. Yet every adult county detention question points back to the unified County roster once someone enters that system. Spokane PD publishes reports and news releases. It offers no person-by-person arrest log or booking-photo gallery. Spokane Valley PD operates under a Sheriff contract. It sends law-enforcement report requests to the County. Cheney runs a city Public Records Center. That city has no active public booking log.
- Spokane Busted Mugshots: SPD records, city releases, and the County adult-detention path.
- Spokane Valley Busted Mugshots: contract-policing records routing and County detention status.
- Cheney Busted Mugshots: city records, West Plains coverage, and the shared adult roster.
Older material calls for a different route. Washington's retention schedule for law enforcement treats facility registers and adult inmate custody files as separate things, and it never promises that a historic photo is online or can be released. The Eastern Washington Regional Archives in Cheney can point you toward a historical series that might exist. Archives are not a way to pull or republish faces, though. They help identify records, nothing more.
